Dr.Zeng was post-doctoral associate at the University of Miami after receiving my Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the Florida International University in 2008. He also received a M.S. degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and a B.S. degree in Biotechnology from the Shanghai Jiao Tong University, in 2001 and 1998 respectively. Currently, Dr.Zeng is an associate professor at the University of Iowa (UI) with affiliations to the Division of Biostatistics and Computational Biology in the College of Dentistry and the Department of Biostatistics. Prior to joining UI, He was an assistant professor at the University of South Dakota (USD) with joint appointment to the Department of Biology and the Department of Computer Science. From 2009 to 2014, He was a research assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Notre Dame (ND), and the managing director of ND bioinformatics core facility.
His research interests are in the general areas of bioinformatics, computational systems biology, and biological big data mining.
Currently, His research focuses on developing and applying algorithms and computational tools for analyzing high-throughput biological data including next-generation sequencing data, metagenomics data, SNPs data, and many more.
