Dr. Gettleman earned his dental degree from the University of Missouri in Kansas City in 1987. He finished his master's degree and endodontic residency at the University of Minnesota in 1989. He has published numerous articles on endodontic therapy and has coauthored the Retreatment chapter in Pathways of the Pulp for the last 5 editions. He presently serves on the AAE Board of Directors and is Board Liaison to the RNPC (residents new practitioners committee) and Budget Finance Committee. He has recently served on the AAE Nominating committee and is currently a mentor with the AAE's Leadership Development Program. He is also past chairman of the AAE’s Professional Standards Peer Review and Ethics Committee. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics and recently retired from private practice. Currently, he is a professor at Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine in Arizona.

The AAE is an ADA CERP Recognized Provider, a recognized provider in California (#2030), Florida (#PP0049). Programs of the AAE (#214682) are accepted by AGD for Fellowship/Mastership credit. ADA CERP is a service of the American Dental Association to assist dental professionals in identifying quality providers of continuing dental education. ADA CERP does not approve or endorse individual courses or instructors, nor does it imply acceptance of credit hours by boards of dentistry. The AAE designates this activity for up to 28.5 continuing education credits. Concerns or complaints about a CE provider may be directed to the provider or to the Commission for Continuing Education Provider Recognition at ada.org/cerp.
