Diagnosis and treatment planning is a critical pillar of dental practice. Dental specialists play an important role in decision making for extraction versus retention of compromised teeth, particularly as treatment becomes more complex. In this session, context experts in the fields of endodontics, prosthodontics, and periodontics will critically discuss the possibilities in reconstructing compromised teeth and the decision-making process in an interdisciplinary manner. This session will also demonstrate the critical factors involved in decision making for the management of compromised teeth through the diverse lenses of different specialties, that may prioritize distinct risk factors in their decision making. The goal of this session is to provide different perspectives that drive each specialist’s thought process, and ultimately lead to an amalgamation of diverse expert opinions leading to sound, evidence-based, and highly individualized treatment decisions.
