The success rate of endodontic surgery has shown significant improvement over the past two decades. The success is based primarily on bone remodeling and healing of apical periodontitis.
Soft tissue management is another important parameter that it is often overseen during treatment planning. As a result, patients may suffer from gingival recession or scaring that can be of esthetic concern. Even more challenging are patients requiring endodontic surgery with compromised soft tissue structure to begin with. In this presentation, we will discuss choosing the right flap design based on the patient’s soft tissue structure. We will also present clinical approaches that can be attempted to further improve the soft tissue structure and position in cases presenting for endodontic surgery.
