(TC54) Guiding a New Path – A Step-by-Step Guide to Designing 3D Printed Guides in Endodontics

Calcifications and blockages can make root canal treatment challenging and unpredictable. Treatment can lead to the removal of excessive dentine to help establish patency, or alternatively peri-radicular surgery can be performed, which is invasive and may be associated with surgical complications. With the evolution of 3D imaging, most notably cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) and the advancement of the digital workflow in implant surgery, one can apply these principles in planning endodontic cases where access is obstructed. This table clinic aims to provide a live demonstration with a laptop and digital planning software and will take delegates through the steps of designing a guide to be used in their orthograde endodontic treatment. Not only have there been technological advancements in the digital workflow, but there are also a variety of armamentarium available in the market to utilize in endodontics and those options will be explored in the session. This guided approach to endodontics is an alternative solution to managing cases with partial or complete pulp canal obliteration facilitating optimal chemo-mechanical debridement to help drive more predictable outcomes.
