Brenda P F A Gomes graduated in Dentistry at the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais (1984), got a specialization in Endodontics at the Faculty of Dentistry of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) in 1985, a master's degree in Endodontics at the same Faculty (1990) and a PhD in Restorative Dentistry at the University Dental Hospital of Manchester, England (1995). She did a post-doctoral (2003) in the Department of Oral Biology, Ohio State University, Columbus, OH, USA and in the Forsyth Institute, Cambridge, MA, USA (2014-2015). She is currently a Full Professor in Endodontics at the Dental School of Piracicaba, State University of Campinas (FOP-UNICAMP), where she has been working since 1997. She acts at the undergraduate, graduate and extension education. Her main research areas are on Endodontic Microbiology (traditional and molecular approaches; quantification of endotoxins, LTA and cytokines) and Endodontic epidemiology.
