Endodontics Resident
Naval Postgraduate Dental School, Bethesda
LCDR Islam is in her second year at the Naval Postgraduate Dental School Endodontics program. Born in Bangladesh and raised in Georgia, she attended Georgia State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2012. From 2012 to 2016, she attended the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University where she earned her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry and upon graduation was promoted to the rank Lieutenant. After completion of Officer Development School in Newport, Rhode Island, newly commissioned LT Islam completed a one-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry at Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune in 2017. From 2017 to 2019 she continued to serve at Camp Lejeune as a dental officer and earned her Fleet Marine Force (FMF) warfare qualification. After her operational tour, LT Islam served overseas in the Middle East as part of the Naval Branch Health Clinic in Bahrain. LT Islam began her residency training at NPDS in July of 2021 and was promoted to LCDR in March of 2022.
