Removal of caries is a crucial step in maintaining the health of a tooth. When caries is deep, pre-doctoral dental students are faced with a clinical dilemma around the best way to proceed. This may lead to misdiagnosis and an error in their clinical decision to remove the carious tissue. The purpose of this table clinic was to assess, based on our predoctoral curriculum, if pre-doctoral students inadequately diagnosed the pulp in their team clinics as a result of improper caries removal or incomplete diagnostic testing. This table clinic retrospectively reviewed clinical treatment records from pre-doctoral clinics based on patients' radiographic and clinical treatment outcomes. We concluded that the protocol for these procedures needs to be revisited among all of the faculty, and perhaps coded and flagged by aXium so proper protocols are followed. Some of the new coding will be shared and discussed in the presentation.
