State Oral Health Director

Dr. Prasida Khanal serves as the State Oral Health Director at the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH). She was trained a s a dentist in Nepal and completed a residency in Dental Public Health at Eastman Institute for Oral Health, University of Rochester Medical Center, New York. Additionally, she has completed a mini-residency in geriatrics and long-term care for the dental team and a certificate in project management from the University of Minnesota. Dr. Khanal is an Affiliate Assistant Professor for Dental Public Health at the University of Minnesota, School of Dentistry. She has passionately straddled public health environments, earning the trust of stakeholders. Dr. Khanal has been convening cross-sections of stakeholders to examine diverse deficits in the current dental care delivery system to provide compelling arguments that adds to a growing body of work of critical importance given the context of broader healthcare reform. Armed with these experiences, Dr. Khanal is committed to improving health equity through an upstream approach and innovative workforce models.
