Each year, oral health advocates devote many hours to writing newsletters, reports, fact sheets and web content. But is your audience reading it and understanding what you want them to know or do? Clear writing means concise writing — because long sentences reduce comprehension. This workshop will provide a checklist for clear and concise writing, as well as offer 8 tips for approaching a writing assignment. Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop, if possible, to this workshop as this will make it easier to complete a brief writing exercise near the end.

Describe the key factors that encourage the use of unnecessary or redundant words
Enhance a writing product by following eight tips for approaching this task
