Pamela Nwachukwu, BDS is a Dentist, Dental Public Health resident, and Ph.D. Candidate at the University of Iowa; Dr. Nwachukwu is also a Graduate Research Fellow at the University of Iowa Public Policy Center. After obtaining her dental degree in 2017, she practiced clinical dentistry for a few years before continuing to the University of Iowa to pursue a combined residency and Ph.D. in Dental Public Health.
Her research focuses on access to dental care for underserved populations, including assessing the effects of Medicaid policies and Medicaid dental coverage on dental care access, and the use of teledentistry as a mode of care delivery to populations who face barriers to dental care.
Dr. Nwachukwu hopes to become a board-certified public health dentist, as well as obtain a Ph.D. in Dental Public Health; and plans to effect positive policy change in the form of reduced oral health disparities and increased dental care access, through research.
