Dental Public Health Resident
Department of Preventive & Community Dentistry, The University of Iowa College of Dentistry & Dental Clinics
Gurjot Kaur Bhatia, BDS, is a Dental Public Health Resident at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics who is passionate about improving community oral health. After completing her Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree from Punjab Government Dental College and Hospital in Amritsar, India in 2019, she worked as an associate dentist in private practice for two years. However, her interest in the preventive care approach to dentistry motivated her to pursue her passion for Dental Public Health.
Dr. Bhatia is currently in her second year of the Dental Public Health graduate program at the University of Iowa. Her research interests include studying the use of fluoride for preventing dental caries, community water fluoridation, and improving access to dental care for underserved populations. Looking ahead, Dr. Bhatia is excited to continue her work in Dental Public Health and hopes to one day lead her own community-based oral health initiatives. She is committed to promoting health equity and improving oral health outcomes for all.
