Harvard School of Dental Medicine
Catherine (Cat) Simpson, 3rd year DMD Candidate at Harvard School of Dental Medicine (HSDM). Catherine graduated Marquette Univerity in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences and a minor in Dance. In undergrad, she was involved in both neuroscience and dental research. She developed an interest in dental public health through volunteering at a community health dental clinic, which sparked her journey to uncovering social determinants of health in the dental setting. At HSDM she has been involved in both the Three Delays study which she is presenting on at the conference, as well as the Social Determinants of Health Policy Paper being presented by one of her colleagues and classmates, Yuying Guo. She has loved being a part of the robust dental public health community at HSDM and hopes to continue working to improve the way the dental profession interacts with patients through a deeper understanding in social determinants of health. As a National Health Service Corps (NHSC) scholarship program recipient, she plans to work directly with underserved groups and communities post graduation.
