Description: Managing dental caries through the use of noninvasive caries therapy (NCT) leads to expanded access to care, lowered overall costs, enhanced patient & provider experience, and improved oral health outcomes. CareQuest Innovation Partners has created a pipeline of activities to validate and scale innovations that improve oral health for all. Working to further advance oral health equity by increasing the adoption of NCT for initial caries lesions in real-life community healthcare settings by building multiple, enhanced clinical deployment programs with mission aligned clinic partners. Diagnosis, often skipped in oral health care, is the driver of action. The change management program consists primarily of clinical provider education, data analytics support, and data driven insights. We will present lessons learned and preliminary outcomes from our prospective IRB-approved cohort study of over 20,000 patients across 32 clinics in four states. Attendees will learn why the diagnosis and tracking of initial lesions matters and why NCT’s such as Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF), Self-Assembling Peptide P11-4, and Glass Ionomer (GI) sealants should be used for initial lesion management. Further advocating for non-dentist professionals and medical teams to collaborate and become involved in the treatment of caries.
