Description: Head Start programs promote the school readiness of young children from families with low income and engage with parents and other key family members to focus on family well-being. Because of the importance of oral health during pregnancy and early childhood, the National Center on Health, Behavioral Health, and Safety (NCHBHS), working in partnership with the American Dental Hygienists’ Association, administers the Dental Hygienist Liaison (DHL) project. The NCHBHS oral health efforts are led by the National Maternal and Child Oral Health Resource Center working in partnership with the Association of State and Territorial Dental Directors. Come attend this presentation to discover how state DHLs are providing support to Head Start program staff, where to locate educational materials produced by NCHBHS for Head Start program staff and families, and how individuals and organizations can become involved in Head Start programs in their community.
