Description: The WDPP project was developed to address multiple issues impacting Wisconsin (and the nation) relating to the presentation of Non-Traumatic Dental Pain (NTDP) patients in the Emergency Department (ED) and Urgent Care Centers (UCC). The WDPP project has worked to develop and implement several strategies including effective intake, treatment, and discharge protocols for ED/UCC, reduce and /or eliminate the number of opioid prescriptions from the ED/UCC, and direct patients to definitive oral healthcare and minimize the number of NTDP patients presenting at the ED/UCC with the additional use of Community Dental Care Coordinators (CDCC).
