In this session, the speakers will address the integration of Electronic Dental Referral Management System (EDRMS) into school-linked dental programs for improving oral health outcomes and reducing disparities. The first speaker will describe the California Office of Oral Health’s plan to implement EDRMS across the State, facilitate school dental programs, link children to a source of dental care and evaluate their oral health outcomes. The second speaker will focus on a pilot project using an EDRMS in a dental screening, sealant application, and treatment referral program in 24 elementary schools. The structure of the EDRMS, functions, key steps and process, the scope of work, and efforts needed to implement EDRMS at school oral health programs will be discussed. The third speaker will describe the plan and early lessons learned through an HRSA-funded state workforce enhancement project in implementing an EDRMS and care coordination model in two high-need counties in California.
