Dr. Myra Parker, JD/MPH, PhD (Mandan-Hidatsa) has a PhD in Health Services, a JD, and an MPH, and is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at University of Washington (UW) School of Medicine. She serves as the Director of Seven Directions, a tribal public health institute focused on systems-level research, evaluation, and technical assistance to tribal and urban Indian programs, organizations, and departments within the UW Center for the Study of Health and Risk Behaviors. Over the past ten years, she has created a program of research examining risk and protective factors for alcohol use, suicidality, and cancer and diabetes risk, as well as testing cultural adaptations of evidence-based interventions, and identifying Indigenous research ethics principles and values from community research perspectives. Her research and evaluation expertise, and experience conducting community-based research, offer important contributions in work with diverse tribal contexts.
