Matt Niehaus is a Principal and brings over a decade of government relations experience across multiple states to McCarthy Strategic Solutions. He began his career at the Republican Party of Kentucky working on campaigns for the State House of Representatives. He then went on to work for the House of Representatives providing legislative research and analysis for the House Republican Caucus. Niehaus moved into government relations in the private sector working with the Kentucky Society of CPAs, where he led statewide advocacy efforts for the organization. He later moved to South Carolina and served as the Director of Government Affairs for the Home Builders Association of South Carolina. Most recently, Niehaus served in multiple roles within Governor Matt Bevin’s administration. As Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Insurance, Niehaus oversaw the day-to-day operation of over 115 employees, a multimillion-dollar annual budget, and regulatory and legislative initiatives. At the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet, he ran the Office of Legislative Services, where he successfully advanced legislation on behalf of the Kentucky State Police, Department of Corrections, Department of Juvenile Justice, and Department of Criminal Justice Training. In both roles, he worked closely with officials across a number of cabinets and agencies and developed relationships with members of the House and Senate on both sides of the aisle. Matt Niehaus completed his Master of Business Administration degree at Bellarmine University in 2007 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Centre College in 2006.
