Gery Guy, PhD, MPH is a health scientist and team lead for the Applied Research, Evaluation and Integration team in the Division of Overdose Prevention (DOP). His work at CDC has been focused on opioid and naloxone prescribing in the United States, the impact of the CDC Guideline for Prescribing Opioids for Chronic Pain, and the impact of policies and interventions on drug overdoses.
Dr. Guy received his MPH in Health Policy from the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University, and his PhD in Health Services Research and Health Policy from Emory University. He completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Prevention Effectiveness at the CDC. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications, government reports, and book chapters and has received numerous awards for his work in public health.
