Dr. Floyd is a Research Scientist, with 20 years of experience as a project director providing clinical trial and regulatory expertise in the treatment and prevention of substance use disorder, in particular opioid use disorder. Dr. Floyd has directed several local and multisite clinical trials and program evaluations in both community treatment and emergency department settings, including Phase III taper schedule and liver toxicity studies with buprenorphine, and a national, multisite 12-step facilitation study for stimulant use disorder. His recent contributions include evaluations of low-barrier buprenorphine programs for opioid use disorder, and development of a treatment decision making tool for people considering opioid use disorder treatment. Dr. Floyd has a secondary focus in firearm injury prevention research, having led the efforts of an emergency department-based clinical trial of people who received case management and care navigation following gunshot wound injuries.
