Cindy Chamberlin is a physical therapist with over 29 years of experience working with children. She has worked in West Virginia for 22 years which is ground zero for NAS births. She has worked in the Birth to Three program for more than 18 years and Clay County schools for more than 11 years. Prior to that she implemented the developmental care program in Raleigh General Hospital’s NICU. She has been working with neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS) babies since her NICU days and has seen the steady increase in numbers as well as observed these children as they transition into school and the impacts that it has had on our educational system. She is the WV Chapter President of To The Moon and Back, a nonprofit dedicated to providing support for the families and professionals working with these children. She participated in the NOVA/PBS documentary Addiction in 2018 talking about the impacts of early intervention can have to support children diagnosed with NAS.
