Amy Jo Cook is the Community Paramedic for Clackamas Fire District #1. She has been a Paramedic Firefighter for the last 24 years. In the role of Community Paramedic, she has built a program that goes beyond the 911 system to provide care plans and resource options for those that are most in need. Most recently, she has partnered with Clackamas Public Health, Clackamas Behavioral Health, Mental Health & Addiction Association of Oregon, Milwaukie Police, and Kaiser Hospital to create a comprehensive opioid recovery program called Project Hope. Project Hope has received national attention from NBC Nightly News’ Lester Holt, and an award of excellence in innovation (Randy R. Bruegman Agency Innovation Award) from the Center of Public Safety Excellence. In addition, her Community Paramedic Program also provides vital services throughout Clackamas County, assisting the underserved with increased access to resources, programs, and vaccinations. Amy is the mother of three sons, three dogs. She is married to Chad Cook, whom she met in Paramedic school. Chad is also a retired fire fighter from Salem Fire Department. Amy has worked for Clackamas Fire for 13 years.
