Erin Major is the Project CARA Program Coordinator at the Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC), a comprehensive perinatal substance use disorder treatment program. She is also a Research Program Associate with the UNC Health Sciences at MAHEC program. Her educational background is centered on public health, Harm Reduction, and education policy. Erin has worked in the Harm Reduction sphere for over five years now, including experience conducting research on supervised consumption sites in Switzerland and New York, and volunteer efforts with Harm Reduction organizations in Appalachia. Her current research focuses on buprenorphine access in rural areas and perinatal substance use disorders, with a particular emphasis on equity and barriers to access.
