Dr. Pringle is an epidemiologist with extensive experience in health services research. She is a Professor at the University of Pittsburgh, School of Pharmacy, and the founder and Director of its Program Evaluation Research Unit (PERU), which has secured over $140 million in funding since its inception in 1999. Her area of expertise is health services research and organizational health, especially as it relates to healthcare innovation implementation. She has conducted numerous health services research studies, program evaluation efforts, and implementation activities involving (but not limited to): community-based overdose prevention programs, screening, brief intervention and referral to treatment (SBIRT), integrated care implementation and evaluation, innovative addiction treatment approaches, chronic disease intervention and prevention models, medication adherence interventions, and access to care improvement efforts. She has developed a framework for assessing organizational health and guiding systems transformation. She has developed healthcare policy research and briefs used to inform policy development.
