Jason Schaak, EMT-P/CC/CP/TEMS, is the Assistant Chief of Community Risk Reduction for the City of West Allis Fire Department. As the department’s, Risk Reduction Chief Jason is responsible for managing his department's 24-7 MIH team that serves the community, multiple hospitals, and clinics in the Milwaukee area. As a Navy veteran with 18 years of experience in the fire service, Jason has leveraged his experience and progressive vision to develop and implement several groundbreaking initiatives that have changed the way Mobile Integrated Health teams care for veterans, and those affected by the opioid use disorder. The partnerships that have been forged by Jason’s efforts have been turning the tide on the opioid epidemic within his community greatly reducing the rates of overdose and death at a time when surrounding communities and the Nation have experiences unprecedented increases.
