Dr. Slavova is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biostatistics, University of Kentucky. She has been the principal investigator on grants focused on drug overdose prevention and policy evaluation, funded by the U.S. Department of Justice, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Dr. Slavova has dedicated much of her career on building analytical capacity for drug overdose surveillance and advancing the methodology for drug overdose research. She received the 2018 Distinguished Leader Award from the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists (CSTE) for her leadership as a chair of the CSTE Drug Overdose Subcommittee, significant technical contributions, and efforts for building active collaborations among state and local epidemiologists. In 2018, she was named the Rice C. Leach Public Health Hero by the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department for her work to provide free community supplies of naloxone.
