The addiction system is broken. Or, more specifically, it was never built in the first place. Utilizing the National Academy of Medicine Framework, this session will describe the specific concepts and issues surrounding building a comprehensive addiction treatment ecosystem. We will start by describing the 4 C’s: Capacity, Competency, Consistency, and Compensation. While all are important to build a robust and predictable system of care, we will pay particular attention to the issue of workforce competency and retention.
