The COVID19 pandemic is now entering its third year, and the toll on front line health care workers continues and the economic cost to the health care work force yet to be realized. The growing body of literature all suggest a high incidence of “moral injury” and “moral distress” among COVID19 front line health care providers. The mental health consequences of moral injury, include depression, anxiety, insomnia, substance use, and suicidality. The context and extent of moral distress and moral injury in critical care providers points to the need to address their specific mental health needs
