Debra is an Advanced Nurse Practitioner with more than 30 years experience in Bleeding Disorders
care. She now divides her time between a part time role at the Royal Free Haemophilia & Thrombosis
Centre and as Director of Education at the Haemnet Foundation and leads the Contemporary Care of
Bleeding Disorders Course for nurses and allied health professionals. Her main interests lay in
exploring the lived experience and quality of life of those affected by bleeding disorders through
qualitative research and advocacy and believes that improving Health Literacy lies at the heart of
ensuring the move towards shared decision making becomes a reality for patients and families. She
has a particular interest in supporting the needs of women with bleeding disorders and is a member
of the EAHAD Women with Bleeding Disorders Group.
Debra is a member of the Medical and Scientific Advisory Group and the Think Tank Council for the
European Haemophilia Consortium. She is also part of the clinical advisory group for the UK
Haemophilia Society, having served as one of its Trustees from 2005-2012, and is on the Editorial
Board of the Journal of Haemophilia Practice
