Professor Niamh O’Connell is National Haemophilia Director at the National Coagulation Centre (NCC), St. James’s Hospital, Dublin, Ireland. The NCC is the lead comprehensive care centre for adults with bleeding disorders in Ireland providing clinical services, training, and education on a national basis. The NCC also provides specialist diagnostic and treatment services for thrombotic conditions including obstetric-associated thrombosis and cancer-associated thrombosis. The NCC has a broad portfolio of investigator-led research and sponsored clinical trials. Professor O’Connell is principal investigator for several clinical trials in novel therapies for haemophilia and has research interests and publications in clinical outcomes in haemophilia and in the application of information technology solutions for management of haemophilia.
