Dr Steve Austin studied Medical Sciences in Hobart, Australia. He was locum Consultant Haematologist in Sydney, before moving to the UK in 2005 to conduct Haemostasis research at University College London. Dr Austin is now Haemophilia Centre Director, Consultant Haematologist and Honorary Senior Lecturer at Guys and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust / St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, UK.
Dr Austin oversees Haemostasis service in 2 large south London hospitals, manages Regular outpatient and inpatient, and trains undergraduates and postgraduates’ medical students.
His special interests on Haemostasis and thrombosis are as follow- Inherited bleeding disorders, autoimmune prothrombotic disorders, acquired bleeding disorders.
Is principal and co-investigator on many phase 1-3 clinical trial studies involving haemophilia A, haemophilia B and hereditary factor X deficiency. Was the principal investigator for the TEN01 hereditary Factor X deficiency trial.
