Michelle Sholzberg is the Division Head of Hematology-Oncology and the Medical Director of the Coagulation Laboratory at St. Michael’s Hospital, as well as Assistant Professor in the Division of Hematology, Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto. She is also the Director of the Hematology-Oncology Clinical Research Group and Co-Director of the Hematology-Immunology Translational Research Theme of the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute in Toronto.
Dr Sholzberg received her medical/surgical degree (M.D., C.M.) from McGill University, where she subsequently undertook her residency training in internal medicine. She completed further postgraduate training in haematology at the University of Toronto and undertook a research haemostasis fellowship in Toronto. Dr Sholzberg received her M.Sc. from the University of Toronto in Clinical Epidemiology and Health Care Research, and was awarded the Claire Bombardier award for her career promise.
Dr Sholzberg’s research interests include inherited and acquired disorders of haemostasis. She is involved in research on predictive tools for perioperative and traumatic bleeding, the appropriateness of coagulation testing, the intersection of women’s health and bleeding disorders, the treatment for iron-deficiency anaemia, new treatments for immune thrombocytopenia, and the management of COVID-19 coagulopathy.
