Dr. and Associate Professor Peetra Magnusson’s research is focused on immunothrombosis specifically in cerebral cavernous malformations but also in organ transplantation, focusing on pre-clinical analysis and pharmaceutical targets. Dr. Magnusson defended her PhD in 2005 (Uppsala University) and became Associated Professor in 2013. She has >20 years of experience in vascular biology, regenerative medicine, ischemia reperfusion injury and immunothrombosis. Her pre-clinical research in strategies to protect against ischemia reperfusion injury has contributed to the safety study “Renaparin in Kidney Transplantation NCT03773211”. Since 2017 she has collaborated with Prof. Elisabetta Dejana and gained expertise in CCM and contributed in the clinical trial “Treat_CCM: Propranolol in Familial Cerebral Cavernous Malformation (Treat_CCM) NCT03589014”. She has strong collaborations with clinicians at Uppsala University Hospital, Helsinki University Hospital and Institute Mario Negri, Milan. Dr. Peetra Magnusson has authored and co-authored >40 peer-reviewed scientific papers and has presented her work at international conferences including as keynote speaker.
