Dr. Tessa Barrett is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at NYU Grossman School of Medicine in New York, USA. Originally from Australia, Dr. Barrett received her Ph.D. from the University of Sydney in 2013 and then pursued postdoctoral training at NYU School of Medicine. Dr. Barrett's research program, housed in the newly established Cardiovascular Research Centre (CVRC), performs translational atherosclerosis and thrombosis studies to investigate how platelets contribute to systemic inflammation and understand the biological cues that regulate platelet phenotype and function. Her lab aims to utilize platelet transcriptomic and proteomic, to uncover novel therapeutic targets to suppress platelet-mediated thromboinflammation
Over the last 15 years, Dr. Barrett has gained insight and experience relevant to interviewing, preparing CVs, and research statements across various levels of academic science.
