Emily Legan is a PhD candidate in the Biochemistry, Cell, and Developmental Biology graduate program at Emory University. She joined Dr. Renhao Li's lab in 2018, where she has been studying the activation mechanisms of von Willebrand factor and its ability to bind and activate platelets. While cultivating her early career as a biochemist, Emily has developed an expertise in hydrogen-deuterium exchange, which enables the detection of protein conformational ensembles in solution. She has utilized this methodology to ask questions relating to protein folding and conformational changes from mutations or protein binding partners. Emily is currently seeking her next opportunity to continue asking questions related to inflammatory diseases and pathological thrombosis.
