Dr. James Luyendyk is Professor of Pathobiology and Diagnostic Investigation at Michigan State University (MSU). Dr. Luyendyk earned his PhD in Pharmacology and Toxicology-Environmental Toxicology from MSU and then pursued post-doctoral studies at The Scripps Research Institute prior to joining the Department of Pharmacology, Toxicology and Therapeutics at The University of Kansas Medical Center in 2007. He returned to MSU in 2012. Dr. Luyendyk’s laboratory focuses on mechanisms of liver injury and repair/regeneration with a focus on how components of the blood clotting system participate in the pathogenesis of acute hepatotoxicity, liver regeneration and fatty liver disease. In addition to more than 110 peer-reviewed publications, Dr. Luyendyk has co-edited the Hepatic Toxicology volume of Comprehensive Toxicology and co-authored the liver chapter in Casarette and Doull's Toxicology (8th edition). Dr. Luyendyk has served on NIH Study Section, including as Chairperson of XNDA, and has been an active member of the Society of Toxicology for 20 years. He currently serves on SOT Council as Secretary.
