Martin Guthold is a professor in the department of physics at Wake Forest University. His research interests are in the general areas of biophysics and nano- and bio-technology. He makes extensive use of atomic force microscopy and optical microscopy-based techniques to investigate the mechanical and structural properties of fibrin fibers and blood clots, electrospun fibers, and normal and cancerous cells. He is associate chair of the physics department and vice president (president-elect) of the International Fibrinogen Research Society. He won several awards for his research and teaching.
