Ph.D. student
Leiden University Medical Center, Leiden, The Netherlands
Viola Strijbis is a Ph.D. candidate at the department of Thrombosis and Hemostasis at Leiden University Medical Center, the Netherlands. Previously, Viola studied Biomedical Sciences and Cardiovascular Research at VU Medical Center, Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and gained research experience at The Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, CA, USA at the department of Molecular and Experimental Medicine, under the supervision of dr. L.O. Mosnier. Currently, her main research involves biochemical characterization of specific modifications in serine proteases generating gain of function coagulation proteins that could serve as potential therapeutics for the treatment of bleeding. Specifically, her research focusses on generation and characterization of recombinant cofactor-independent factor IX variants and prothrombin variants that could serve as prohemostatic bypassing agents under the supervision of Dr. M.H.A. Bos and Prof. Dr. H.C.J. Eikenboom. You can reach her at V.J.F.Strijbis@lumc.nl.
