Dieuwke Luijten is a MD and PhD candidate supervised by Prof. Dr. F.A. Klok and Prof. Dr. M.V. Huisman at the department of Thrombosis and Hemostasis at the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC). She studied medicine at the University of Leiden and gained clinical experience as a medical doctor at the department of pulmonology at Haga Hospital, the Hague. Her research focuses on the clinical outcomes after a pulmonary embolism, in particular the home-treatment of acute pulmonary embolism, the prevention of long term symptoms (post pulmonary embolism syndrome) and the detection of chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH).
