Dr. Alison Farley performed her PhD studies at the Scottish Centre for Regenerative Medicine, University of Edinburgh, under the supervision of Professor Clare Blackburn. During this time Alison investigated the early development of thymic epithelial progenitor cells in both the mouse and human foetal period. In 2012 she moved back to her home town of Melbourne to take up a position with Professor Martin Pera at the University of Melbourne further pursuing her interest in developmental biology. In 2017 Alison took up a senior post-doctoral position with Doctor Samir Taoudi at The Walter and Eliza Hall Institute for Medical Research (WEHI), Melbourne. In the Taoudi Laboratory her interests have been looking at the role of platelets in the foetal and neonatal period and how they are involved in maintaining cerebral vasculature stability and the prevention of intra cranial haemorrhage.
