Principal Biomedical Scientist
Viapath Analytics
Dr. Aine McCormick PhD is a principal biomedical scientist in the diagnostic haemostasis and thrombosis laboratory at Viapath analytics in St. Thomas' Hospital in London. Following completion of a BSc Hons in biochemistry at University College Cork, Ireland and a PhD in endocrinology and metabolism at Queen's University Belfast, Aine began working at St. Thomas' in 2001 as a research and development scientist in the Haemophilia centre. In 2006, Aine took up the role of senior biomedical scientist in the diagnostic laboratory for haemostasis and thrombosis again at St. Thomas'. During this time particular focus has been given to the development of a range of tests for platelet diagnostics, assays for DOAC measurement, global coagulation assays and the adaptation of coagulation factor assays to incorporate measurement of the extended half life factor replacement products. A move to the role of principal scientist was competed in 2019. The laboratory is a reference centre for haemostasis and thrombosis diagnostics and continually aims to adapt to the changing environment of therapeutic choices within the field of coagulation.
