David N. Ku, BA (Harvard) PhD (GaTech) MD (Emory), Regents' and L.P. Huang Chair Professor, Georgia Institute of Technology. My clinical background in Vascular Surgery drives my interest in arterial thrombosi, artificial circulatiion, and hemostasis from trauma. Our biophysics work helped understand the role of high shear rates in agglomerating and capturing platelets into a strong mass to withstand arterial pressures. We have developed a Point-of-Care test for SIPA, an in vitro recreation of thrombus in ECMO circuits, computational models of platelet aggregation, and experimental demonstration of novel anti-platelet and thrombolytic agents.
