Postdoctoral Fellow
Versiti Wisconsin
My name is Dr. Heather Clift, PhD. I am a Postdoctoral Fellow at Versiti Blood Research Institute in Wisconsin, United States. My long term research interests involve understanding the roles of proteins and protein glycosylation in bacterial infection and human diseases. I completed my undergraduate degree at Univeristy of California, Santa Barabara in Biochemistry and then went on to complete a Masters of Research and PhD at Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia with Associate Professor Bridget Mabbutt. With Dr. Mabbutt and Prof. Ian Paulsen I studied the structure and active-site chemistry of various multi-drug resistant bacterial proteins. After completing my doctoral degree, I took a position as a Postdoctoral Fellow with Dr. Karin Hoffmeister at Versiti Blood Research Institute focusing on the glycobiology of human blood components in sickle cell disease. After two years with Dr. Hoffmeister, I started a new Postdoctoral position with Dr. Sandra Haberichter researching the glycosylation of von Willebrand Factor in type 1C von Willebrand Disease. I have been an author on five published articles, have two first author manuscripts in preparation, and have written a new chapter for the next edition of a von Willebrand Disease textbook.
