Magy Abdelwahab is a Professor of Paediatrics and Paediatric haematology, Cairo University Pediatric Hospital, senior staff member and founder of the disorders of bleeding and thrombosis Paediatric clinic. She qualified in Paediatrics at Cairo University Paediatric Hospital where she did her Msc and PhD .She trained in Paediatrics, Paediatric haematology and Neurology in the UK ,and worked in Royal Free Hospital for Sick Children in Glasgow and Edinburgh, Scotland and sat for membership exam.
She is interested in disorders of bleeding and thrombosis and received specialized training at the Manchester Haemophilia Comprehensive Care Centre, Manchester Royal Infirmary, UK. With a specialist clinical interest in disorders of bleeding and thrombosis including rare bleeding disorders her research involves clinical and translational fields with publications of original articles and her last publication is “Profiling the mutational landscape of coagulation factor V deficiency” and “Clinical phenotype, fibrinogen supplementation, and health-related quality of life in patients with afibrinogenemia”. She is an invited speaker in National and International conferences. She started comprehensive care of children with inherited bleeding disorders in Cairo University Paediatric Hospital upgrading their service as well as a local hospital registry ,part of a national registry .She designed local hospital management guidelines of all disorders of bleeding and thrombosis in view of resource constraint as well as educational material for patients and their families
She is an active member of the ESH, EHA, ESPHI, PARC-ISIS, WFH and ISTH and an active participant of RBDD and pro-RBDD registries .She received several SSC/ISTH awards and is part of several international projects.Her other area of interest is Gaucher disease especially type 3 managing a big diverse cohort of 100 patients with publications in the field that changed how Gaucher disease type 3 is perceived. She is the coordinator of undergraduate and postgraduate education accreditation in Paediatrics
