PhD student
University of Geneva, Geneva, Switzerland
I am Alex, from the U.K. I was awarded my Master's in Genomic Medicine from the University of Cambridge in 2021. I have now joined Prof. Neerman-Arbez’s laboratory at The University of Geneva to pursue a PhD degree. In the lab we are studying the genetic disorders of haemostasis and thrombosis, applying the results of whole exome sequencing and functional analyses in transfected cells, zebrafish animal models and patient samples towards a personalised approach to treat these disorders. Our main interest is in fibrinogen deficiencies, both quantitative and qualitative. In particular, my focus is on genetic modifiers that influence the variable phenotypes of patients with fibrinogen deficiencies.
