Postdoctoral Fellow
Boston Children's Hospital
I received my B.Sc. and M.Sc. in biomedicine from the University of Wurzburg in Germany. Afterwards, I conducted my Ph.D. in the lab of Prof. Bernhard Nieswandt at the Rudolf Virchow Center for Integrative and Translational Bioimaging in Würzburg, studying the megakaryocyte cytoskeleton during proplatelet formation as well as the participation of megakaryocytes in the pathogenesis of myelofibrosis using advanced imaging technologies. I joined the lab of Prof. Joseph Italiano as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in November 2020 and was awarded with a Walter Benjamin Fellowship by the German Research Foundation in January 2022. In my projects, I am elucidating novel mechanisms leading to the initiation of proplatelet formation as well as alternative roles of megakaryocytes within the bone marrow microenvironment and possible therapeutic approaches to target those.
