Dr Christina VanderPluym, MD is the Director of the Cardiac Antithrombosis Management Program, Ventricular Assist Device Program and Co-director of the Stroke and Cerebrovascular Center at Boston Children's Hospital. As a cardiologists, she approaches hemostasis and thrombosis with a different perspective, having developed and evaluated alternative antithrombosis strategies for complex congenital heart disease and mechanical circulatory support. She received her training at the University of Alberta, Stollery Children's Hospital and has been on staff at Boston Chidlren's Hospital for the last decade. She helped establish a international learning collaborative and registry called ACTION- Advanced Cardiac Therapies Improving Outcomes Network, and acts on the leadership and editorial board for Pedimacs, Intermacs, International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation.
