PhD Student
Cardiovascular Research Institute Maastricht (CARIM), Maastricht University, The Netherlands; Center for Thrombosis and Hemostasis, University Medical Center of the Johannes Gutenberg-University of Mainz, Germany
Claudia Schönichen, M.Sc. is currently employed as a PhD student at the universities of Maastricht, Netherlands and Mainz, Germany.
Graduated from Freiburg university in 2019, Claudia is now enrolled in the European Joint degree program, thrombo-inflammation in cardiovascular disease (TICARDIO). In her research, she investigates the interactions of endothelial cells, platelets and immune cells in inflammatory-vessel-on-a-chip models. Further, she uses transcriptomics and phospho-proteomics to eliducate endothelial dysregulation and pathway regulation in platelets in inflammatory in-vitro models. During her masters in molecular medicine at Freiburg university, Claudia worked in the research lab of Prof. Daniel Duerschmied, at the University Heart Center Freiburg Bad Krozingen on platelet-neutrophil interactions in cardiovascular disease, and she served international internships at Hoffmann La Roche, Basel, Switzerland and the Bergmeier Lab, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC, USA.
