Josune Orbe, PhD. Researcher in the programe of Cardiovascular diseases at Center for Applied Medical Research (CIMA) of the University of Navarra.
Since 2015, I lead the atherothrombosis laboratory and our most recent research focuses on the study of ischemic vascular pathology and thrombosis. . We intend to advance in the knowledge of these diseases to improve the risk stratification of patients and to identify new therapeutic targets that allow better prevention and treatment of these pathologies. In my research career I have used several preclinical and cellular models, as well as clinical samples to characterize the early inflammatory response induced by MMP10 and its role in fibrinolysis, participating in inflammation and thrombus dissolution in ischemic stroke. I am co-inventor of 3 published patents, licensed to Hemostatics Pharmaceuticals S.L. (2021) of which I am CSO. I have obtained funding in competitive calls for regional, national and European funds. I am a researcher of national networks CIBERCV, 2017-2021, RICORS-ICTUS (2021-), and professor of the Master in Biomedical Translational Research at the University of Navarra (since 2009).
